Core Idea: Short-form, aesthetic vlogs showing how you fit reading into your daily life.
While these have been popular for ages as long form content over on BookTube; there is a rise in vlog style content on TikTok and Instagram too. These videos give your followers a chance to go ‘behind the scenes’ and get to know you as a person. It’s a chance to show off your pets, what you do at work, your other hobbies, and gives people an insight in how you manage to fit reading into your busy life.
Core Idea: A gamified reading challenge where page counts are tied directly to daily follower growth.
@beccaandthebooks And that’s a wrap on reading 1 page for every follower I gained this week! Thanks for coming along for the ride besties 🥰🥰 #readingchallenge #readingvlog #currentlyreading #ACOWAR #booktok

This viral trend is one of the most effective autumn trends for book influencers if you want rapid community growth. The premise is simple: announce how many new followers you gain each day, and read that exact number of pages on camera or in a progress update. Again, there is flexibility here: perhaps you check in every 3 days or once a week and have one big reading session. You might run this for a month, or a week, or until you hit a follower goal.
Core Idea: Pairing reading time with time-bound or visual tasks to create satisfying, atmospheric content.
This trend is a great one for combining reading and self care. There are lots of variants on this that you could explore. This is another b-roll/vlog style trend where you film yourself reading, or doing the activity while listening to an audiobook, with either a voice-over or music/lo-fi or ASMR sounds in the background. This is an extension of the ‘Read with me for 1 hour’ trend that was popular earlier in the year.
As this is a slow video trend, you want to give your audience a reason to watch until the end. Perhaps you don’t reveal the book until the end, or you end the video with a reveal of the final cake/run time/jigsaw. Anything to keep people watching!
Core Idea: Showcasing how reading integrates with secondary seasonal hobbies like crafting, baking, or cosy gaming.
@artbyabbegale I delivered, finally. My master list of (most) my hobbies. At least I’m never bored over here. #hobbymaxxing #booktok #crocheting #writing #reading

This is similar to the last one, but is a great trend that pops up every autumn. As we start getting into hibernation mode, the hobbies that we may have ignored over the summer tend to start up again. Personally, I have started crocheting a new blanket, colouring, making soup and I’m planning on learning to knit.
Something that a lot of us readers have in common is that we have multiple hobbies, and we love to combine them. Whether that is listening to an audiobook while crocheting, or reading a few chapters while your bread is proving (let’s be honest, we’ve all thought about starting a sourdough baby, and then got intimidated), this trend is all about showing how you combine your hobbies. It might not even involve reading! Show your followers how you combine your hobbies. Chances are, they will have the same ones!
Book lovers frequently share overlapping creative interests, making this format ideal for tapping into broader lifestyle, craft, and cosy aesthetic communities.
Core Idea: Pairing book recommendations with seasonal drinks, autumn foods, or nostalgic fall treats.
The last trend I’m going to share is one of the easiest. Match your book to an autumnal food. Perhaps it’s coffee flavours, or soups, or cookies. Maybe it’s fairground food, or hearty meals, or even new release candles or bath bombs.
This trend is fantastic because it works in multiple ways. Firstly, you are able to get lots of recommendations out there. Recommendation posts are fantastic for engagement, including saves and shares. Show your personality: make it funny, highlight your favourite titles, include niche titles. Or, you could try to tap into a whole new audience and share recipes alongside your book recommendations.
Giving these seasonal trends a try can help to keep your content fresh and aligned with what audiences are actively searching for this autumn. Pick one trend to start with, tag @bookinfluencerscom on Instagram or TikTok, and share your creative spin!
