But there is so much more to Peru’s cultural landscape than Machu Picchu and llamas. Peruvian literature spans from rich, Indigenous-focused narratives and Nobel Prize-winning masterpieces to razor-sharp contemporary fiction.

If you struggle to name a Peruvian author off the top of your head, you aren’t alone. But diving into the country’s literary scene reveals a treasure trove of talent. While diving into the research for this list, I discovered an incredible array of voices that instantly earned a spot on my TBR pile.
