Autumn Reading List Inspired by Your Favourite TV Shows

The leaves are falling, pumpkin spice is in the air and we’re all trying to decide between putting heating on or just grabbing another blanket. This is the time of year where so many people embrace the season and start another rewatch of their favourite show, or pick up specific books. So we’ve put together an autumn reading list for you, based on your favourite autumnal show!

Gilmore Girls – the epitome of autumn

When you start to hear the infamous La La La’s, you know that autumn is here. Coffee, books, autumn- it’s Gilmore Girls time! I’ve picked 3 books that I think fit the cosy, small town vibe while still being addictive.

The Pumpkin Spice Café – We have a coffee shop owner, a grumpy farmer and the start of a fantastic small town series

Legends and Lattes – What does an orc mercenary do when they retire? Open a coffee shop of course!

The Full Moon Coffee Shop – Talking cats run a coffee shop that only appears when you need it. Obsessed.

Charmed – cosy witches

You can’t tell me that cosy vibes and witches don’t just shout autumn! Charmed is one of those shows that gives the spooky feeling, while still being cute and cosy.

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches – Found family, cosy magic and witches? This is the perfect fall read

Rewitched – A witch working in a bookstore looking to rediscover her magic? Amazing

The Ex Hex – An accidental hex on an ex goes wrong and wreaks havoc on a small witchy town

Buffy – getting spookier

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an iconic show featuring all manner of spooky creatures. If you’re wanting something more spooky, but not full on scary, try these

Empire of the Vampire – We follow the last Silver Saint telling his story to his vampire captive the night before he is killed. This is told across 3 timelines and is super dark and gritty

Twilight – you’ve probably watched or read Twilight, but I can’t not include it on this list!

Her Majesty’s Royal Coven – If you’re more of a fan of witches than vampires, then HMRC is for you!

The Vampire Diaries – Romantasy, anyone?

I love a TVD rewatch at this time of year (Team Damon, in case you wondered) and I think this show is the forerunner to the romantasy genre.

Phantasma – ghosts, demons and all manner of creatures abound in this deadly game

Bride – This isn’t the spookiest book on the list, but a romance between a vampire and a werewolf? Incredible.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night – Deadly trials and a romance between a human and a vampire? Sign me up!

The Haunting of Hill House – For the horror fans

I can’t have an autumnal round up without touching on horror, for the people who can’t wait for Halloween!

IT – a scary clown haunts children in a town, but when they return 27 years later, IT is still there

We Used to Live Here- A couple buy a new house, when the old owner knocks on the door and asks if he can show his family around the house, then things get dark…

This Cursed House – A southern gothic set in the 1960’s Louisiana following a cursed family and a woman who is expected to break it.

I hope that this list gives you some ideas of what to read over the next couple months, and enjoy your autumn reading!
